When is temporary central venous line dialysis necessary?

When a patient requires hemodialysis, temporary central venous line placement may be required in the following cases: (1) when hemodialysis is required before maturation of the arteriovenous endovascular fistula; (2) when the patient has indications for the need of emergency hemodialysis, such as heart failure, hyperkalemia, and severe acidosis, although the blood creatinine level does not reach above 707 umol/L; (3) acute renal failure; (4) ) drug toxicity; (5) plasma replacement therapy; (6) immunosorbent therapy; (7) peritoneal dialysis patients who need hemodialysis transition therapy. As the above patients may need hemodialysis treatment in the short term, temporary central venous catheter is not retained for a long time, and can ensure adequate therapeutic blood flow, often the temporary central venous catheter can be selected and removed when not needed.
