Tuberculous encephalitis is a tuberculous inflammatory disease caused by the tubercle bacillus invading the meninges and brain parenchyma, mostly in children under five years of age. TB encephalitis is mainly contracted by adults with open tuberculosis, so if you have an adult with frequent coughing in your family, you need to go to the hospital for screening. Meningococcal meningitis is transmitted mainly by the respiratory tract and often develops within 6-12 months after infection with tuberculosis. The first signs of TB meningitis are personality changes and emotional abnormalities, as well as fever, vomiting, headache, and convulsions. If a child presents with personality changes and mood abnormalities, he or she also needs to be seen in the hospital promptly. A cerebrospinal fluid examination and tuberculin test are needed to confirm the diagnosis. Tuberculous meningitis requires special medication and usually has a long course of treatment, usually at least one year. The child needs to be given better nutrition while recovering from the disease.
