What is the cause of diarrhea for several days in a row

The symptoms of continuous diarrhea are mainly considered to be caused by digestive system diseases. However, the possibility of other systemic diseases cannot be excluded. Diarrhea symptoms can be divided into two main types, acute diarrhea and chronic diarrhea, according to the course of the disease. Infectious diseases of the digestive system are a common cause of acute diarrhea, such as bacterial dysentery, Escherichia coli enteritis, and adenoviral enteritis. This is because the infection of the stomach, intestines and other digestive tissues with sensitive bacteria causes dysfunction and hyperperistalsis. When water and nutrients are not sufficiently broken down and absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, they enter the excretory system at an accelerated rate and are excreted from the body in the form of metabolites. Therefore, it causes patients to have abdominal pain, diarrhea, watery stools and other symptoms. Chronic diarrhea is associated with non-infectious diseases, such as irritable bowel syndrome, hyperalgesia, and allergic purpura. Patients with these types of diseases are often accompanied by symptoms of persistent diarrhea. Patients are advised to go to the gastroenterology department of the hospital as soon as possible to receive further detailed examination to confirm the specific cause of the disease and then to develop a suitable treatment plan so as not to delay the treatment of the disease.
