- Prepare personal hygiene items in the sterile laminar flow room.
- Financial preparation, off-site patients apply for the procedures related to off-site medical insurance settlement in advance.
- Psychological preparation, adjust your mind, get enough rest, exercise appropriately, and actively cooperate with the medical staff.
Preparation needed for relative donors
- Comprehensive physical examination, including blood, urine and stool tests, electrocardiogram, abdominal hepatobiliary, pancreatic and splenic B-rays, chest X-rays, etc., to find out if the donor has any diseases that may be transmitted through blood, such as hepatitis B, blood type, function of all major organs, etc.
- Peripheral blood stem cell mobilization and donation takes 5-6 days, followed by 1-2 weeks of rest after donation, so you will need to take time off from work in advance to make reasonable arrangements. Donating blood stem cells is a noble and selfless act and is usually well supported by colleagues at work.
- During the period of stem cell mobilizer injection, you may experience hypothermia and back pain. Take care of your body temperature, drink plenty of water, enhance nutrition, take calcium supplements, get enough rest, and exercise appropriately.
- Eat a full breakfast on the day of stem cell collection and drink water appropriately.
