There are five pathological subtypes of medulloblastoma, namely classic, desmoplastic, MBEN, large cell and anaplastic. The prognosis is better for the pro-fibroblastic and extensive nodule-forming types, which are more common in patients under 5 years of age and adults and have a relatively good prognosis; the worst prognosis is for the large cell and mesenchymal medulloblastoma types. Because of the poor prognosis of both types, we usually call them LC/A. The incidence of LC/A type medulloblastoma is low, and among the five subtypes of medulloblastoma, LC/A type accounts for the smallest proportion and has the worst prognosis. The prognosis of classic medulloblastoma, on the other hand, is more variable and cannot be determined. The clinical significance of these five pathological subtypes is only relative and cannot be absolutized, and their accuracy is less than that of molecular typing.
