Symptoms of severe yin deficiency may include five heart-heat (heat in the heart of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of heart and chest heat), hot flashes (self-consciousness of heat spreading from the face or chest to the whole body at a certain time of the day), night-sweating (sweating abnormally after falling asleep, but sweating stops after waking up), or even body burning and limb warmth, irritability, and so on.
In patients with severe Yin deficiency, the symptoms can be manifested as five heart-heat, hot flashes, night sweating, even body burning limb warmth, restlessness, fear of heat, thirst for cold drinks, sweating like oil, sweating salty and sticky, wrinkled skin, minimal urination, red face and cheekbones (cheeks and zygomatic bones are reddish in color), shortness of breath, dryness of the lips and tongue, fine pulse (the pulse becomes narrower and finer and its rate accelerates), disease and weakness, and so on.
