Semen Examination Precautions

The sperm must be abstinent for 3-7 days, and the sperm must be intact, because when the semen is ejaculated, the initial discharge is clear and sticky, mainly urethral bulb gland secretion and a small amount of prostate fluid, which is a sign of male sexual excitement, and the number of sperm is very small, playing the role of lubricating the urethra to facilitate ejaculation; followed by the most important part of the ejaculation, mainly prostate fluid and epididymal tail fluid, which is dominant. The quantity and quality of sperm is the best, and after exclusion, it first coagulates and then dissolves; finally, it is the secretion of the seminal vesicle gland, which mainly contains fructose, and the number of sperm is small and the quality is not good. If the sperm extraction is incomplete, it should be re-examined, otherwise the results are not reliable; if the laboratory does not mix the specimen sufficiently, it will also affect the semen examination results. Accurate test results are very crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Routine semen analysis is an important test for evaluating male fertility, so performing the test as required is crucial for the treatment of male infertility. Clinically, we often encounter routine semen tests that are not performed as required, mainly because of prolonged abstinence, and therefore we clinically encounter false weak sperm; sperm density fluctuates very much, and it is also inappropriate to make a diagnosis of oligospermia based on one result, and such treatment is also unreasonable.
