Is it good to see a rhinologist for headache

Some patients have long-standing persistent or intermittent headaches and have been seen in many hospitals, including neurology, pain medicine and brain surgery, and have undergone various tests such as head CT, EEG, cervical spine X-ray and cerebrovascular ultrasound, but no abnormalities have been found. However, headache is also a common symptom of many nasal sinus diseases. Acute rhinitis and sinusitis usually cause obstructive headache due to congestion and swelling in the nose, blocking the opening of the sinuses and causing poor ventilation and drainage. When the air absorption in the sinuses is negative pressure can cause vacuum headache. Chronic purulent sinusitis can cause headache due to the toxin effect of bacteria, but it is usually mild, mostly located in the frontal or nasal root, sometimes radiating to the top of the head, temporal or occipital area.       Deviated septum tends to block sinus openings, preventing sinus ventilation and drainage, which can cause obstructive headaches. High nasal septal deviation, with the crestal or vantage point pressing on the turbinate mucosa, can cause reflex headache. Atrophic rhinitis can cause reflex headache due to wide nasal cavity and large amount of air inflow and stimulation of nasal mucosa. When the nasal cavity is blocked by flat scabs and secondary infection, not only the nasal ventilation is not smooth but also there is a foul smell, which can cause obstructive headache. Patients with headache should be alerted to whether it is caused by nasal diseases if medical examination and medication are ineffective.
