Dangers of ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma bleeding

Primary hepatocellular carcinoma rupture and hemorrhage is a more common tumor emergency, with rapid development, acute and dangerous condition, which can endanger life in a short time if not treated timely. Not long ago, the Department of Interventional Oncology successfully performed emergency hepatic artery embolization for a patient with ruptured hemorrhage of advanced primary hepatocellular carcinoma, marking a new stage in the comprehensive treatment of acute complications of middle and advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. The patient, a certain person, was ruptured and bleeding from primary hepatocellular carcinoma, and was transferred to several tertiary hospitals in foreign provinces and our province. Later, the patient’s condition was critical because of the aggravation of hepatocellular carcinoma rupture and bleeding, accompanied by hemorrhagic shock and obvious drop of blood pressure. After emergency consultation and discussion and adequate preoperative preparation, under the guidance of several experts in our department, attending physician Zhu Xianhai performed emergency hepatic artery embolization, and the bleeding stopped quickly and the patient turned to safety. After careful care by our nursing team, the patient is now discharged from the hospital. Ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma haemorrhage often leads to death of patients, and the mortality rate is very high if timely and effective treatment is not provided. The previous treatment methods include conservative medical treatment and surgical treatment. However, most patients are in shock and often do not have surgical conditions at that time, while emergency interventional treatment has become the preferred treatment for ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma bleeding in recent years because of its wide indications, small trauma, short operation time, fast postoperative recovery and remarkable hemostatic effect.
