A small number of patients with leukaemia, particularly acute leukaemia, may develop ‘sternal pressure pain’, which is usually located in the lower part of the sternum and becomes apparent when light pressure is applied. In addition, sternal pressure in leukaemia is often accompanied by pain in the bones and joints of the extremities.
