The first step should be to go to the hospital to see if there is indeed sternal pressure pain. If it is caused by excessive chest activity or prolonged poor postural work, no special treatment is required.
For some sternal pressure pain caused by diseases, the primary cause should be actively treated, such as pain caused by sternal fracture, which can be treated by surgery or external fixation with a chest strap; pain caused by inflammation of the pleura, which can be treated by medication; and for sternal pressure pain caused by leukaemia, which can be treated by targeted therapy or radiotherapy. Multiple myeloma or malignant lymphoma causing pressure pain is treated with appropriate radiotherapy.
