What should I do if I have swollen lymph nodes and a fever that won’t go away?

Lymph node enlargement and fever that does not go away need to be checked as soon as possible to clarify the cause. Routine blood tests, C-reactive protein, calcitoninogen, liver function, hepatitis B-5, and sometimes tumor markers such as methemoglobin, carcinoembryonic antigen, and glycoantigen 19-9 are also needed. Patients should also have imaging examinations, such as ultrasound or CT, and some patients need to have lymph node puncture biopsy or excisional biopsy to clarify the nature of the disease. If a bacterial infection is considered, antibiotics should be given. If a viral infection is considered, antiviral medications should be given, along with Chinese herbal medicine, and the patient should drink more water. If it is considered to be caused by an autoimmune system disease, hormone treatment such as dexamethasone may be required. During the treatment period, patients should not drink drinks containing alcohol or eat spicy foods.
