What should husbands do when artificial insemination is in progress?

With the development of assisted reproductive technology, artificial insemination is no longer new and infertility couples know a thing or two about it. But performing IUI is not a matter for the woman alone, and men should not think that all they have to do is to go and get a semen on the same day.
In order to ensure that the sperm is of good quality, it is best for the husband to maintain a good lifestyle, quit smoking and drinking, don’t stay up late, exercise actively and eat a balanced diet in order to get the healthiest baby.
Artificial insemination is a special technique that refers to the clinical determination of ovulation through ovulation detection before and after the washing of treated sperm into the uterine cavity of the woman. IUI is divided into artificial insemination with husband sperm or artificial insemination with donor sperm, depending on the source of sperm. Intrauterine insemination must be used when hysteroscopy or hysterosalpingography has confirmed the patency of at least one of the fallopian tubes.
What should my husband do during IUI?
Most of the time when performing IUI, we put most of our attention on the woman, asking her to monitor ovulation frequently and administer medication in time. Most of the men think that they only need to come to collect the sperm on the day of insemination. Due to the neglect of the male partner, sometimes the sperm cannot be collected on the day of sperm collection, or the sperm is not vigorous enough, and the quality is not good, while the woman is ovulating at this time, so missing this best time greatly reduces the conception rate, and if the current menstrual cycle fails, it is necessary to wait for another month, which actually delays the process of treatment. Therefore, although most of the insemination operations are performed on the woman, the man should also be prepared and the couple should support each other.
Only the union of a healthy egg and sperm can give birth to a healthy baby. In order to avoid sperm quality failure during sperm retrieval, dads need to make these preparations.
  1. Quit smoking and drinking.
2.Keeping a regular life and not staying up late.
3, active exercise, brisk walking and swimming is particularly beneficial to male sperm production.
4, do not steam sauna and hot springs.
5, eat more vegetables and fruits and nuts, comprehensive nutrition, multivitamin supplement.
6, if there are inflammatory diseases of the reproductive system need to be actively treated.
7.If it is difficult to retrieve sperm on weekdays, or if you cannot masturbate to retrieve sperm, you can, freeze sperm in advance just in case, and also reduce the pressure and mental burden of retrieving sperm on the day of egg collection.
