How long does it take for hepatitis E to heal on its own?

Hepatitis E is a self-limiting disease, and the time of self-healing is related to the patient’s own immunity, which can be self-healed in 1-3 months for those with strong immunity and 3-6 months for those with low immunity, and a small number of patients may develop a chronic course of the disease. Hepatitis E is transmitted by the fecal-oral route. Eating food or water contaminated with hepatitis E virus, or touching objects contaminated with hepatitis E virus and then touching the mouth or nose, can infect with hepatitis E virus. Some patients do not develop clinical symptoms and recover spontaneously after 1-3 months without leaving any traces, while some patients may develop an acute course, such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia, jaundice, etc. Those with strong immunity may recover spontaneously in 1-3 months without treatment, while those with lower immunity need pharmacological intervention and may recover in 3-6 months. Very few patients may develop chronic hepatitis or combine with other types of hepatitis and the cure time is long. Therefore, hepatitis E positive patients do not need to be nervous and do not require treatment when there are no clinical symptoms, and can undergo pharmacological intervention when discomfort occurs.
