Intrahepatic cancer mass disappeared with integrated Chinese and Western medicine treatment

Case] In April 2013, the author received a middle-aged male patient with metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (multiple) on CT of liver in local hospital, and rectal cancer was found on colonoscopy after admission to the hospital, which was diagnosed as multiple metastatic foci of rectal cancer in liver. Because the cancer mass in the liver was large and large, not suitable for surgical treatment, the author formulated a comprehensive treatment plan combining traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine: (1) Western systemic chemotherapy: the program was oxaliplatin intravenous drip + Xiloda oral; (2) traditional Chinese medicine herbal medicine treatment: the author prescribed the prescription by looking and sniffing; (3) dietary therapy: the patient usually loved to eat braised pork and meat, and the author instructed the patient to give up this bad habit; the patient usually didn’t love to eat vegetables and fruits and instructed the patient to eat more vegetables and fruits after that. The patient usually does not like to eat vegetables and fruits, so the patient was told to eat more vegetables and fruits, and was told to carry out dietary therapy according to “You Can Beat Cancer – Scientific Ideas and Methods of Fighting Cancer”; (4) Exercise therapy; the patient usually does more exercise; (5) Changing bad habits: the patient is usually quick-tempered, smokes and drinks, and loves to play cards, and was told to give up all of them. A few months later, the patient told us by phone that the cancer mass in the liver disappeared after review in the local hospital, and asked whether surgery could be performed. The patient was instructed to undergo rectal cancer resection and continue comprehensive treatment after surgery. 【Analysis】The patient in this case had multiple liver metastases of rectal cancer, and lost the chance of surgical treatment at that time. After integrated treatment of traditional Chinese and western medicine, the metastatic cancer foci disappeared in the liver, and gained the chance of surgery. The patient was relatively strong in execution, and he quit his bad dietary habits and bad living habits, and also insisted on exercise and taking traditional Chinese medicine. These provide a strong foundation for effective treatment. Cancer is a systemic disease, and there is no panacea that can completely cure it, and it requires all-round integrated treatment, such as Western chemotherapy, Chinese medicine treatment, exercise therapy, psychological adjustment, scientific dietary therapy and daily living, which not only eliminates the cancer cells, but also improves the soil of the human body, so as to make cancer, the enemy, retreating and the road to recovery getting wider and wider. Remember, there is no shortcut in treating cancer, and patients must be down-to-earth to change themselves in all aspects. Many patients do not quit smoking and drinking, are not willing to take Chinese herbs, do not change their bad dietary habits, and hope that some kind of panacea can completely conquer cancer, which is unrealistic. Physicians can prescribe medicines and provide scientific guidance to patients, but the implementation of dietary therapy, mentality, physical therapy and daily living requires patients’ own efforts.
