Patients with severe craniocerebral injury are unable to eat on their own because of coma and other reasons, so nutritional support is very important for patients, and nutritional supplementation is favorable for patients’ recovery. The principle of nutritional support for patients is: high calorie, high protein without elevating blood sugar. Nutritional supplementation includes gastrointestinal nutrition and extra-gastrointestinal nutrition. Because nasal gastrointestinal nutrition is inexpensive and easy to operate, and serious complications such as aspiration can be avoided if operated carefully and correctly, so it is still considered that gastric tube nasogastric nutritional supplementation is a common method for the treatment of severe craniocerebral injury. It is generally believed that gastric tube nasal feeding can be used to supplement nutrition in the following cases: 1, normal bowel sounds; 2, no gastrointestinal bleeding; 3, no diarrhea; 4, no artificial assisted respiration; 5, more than 5 days after the injury; otherwise, it is inappropriate to use gastrointestinal supplementation of nutrition, and the application of extra-gastrointestinal venous supplementation of nutritional methods.
