How to treat precocious pituitary microadenoma in a 9-year-old girl

In 9-year-old girls with precocious puberty pituitary microadenomas, the main common treatment methods are surgery and radiation therapy.
Pituitary microadenomas can secrete a variety of hormones, and if they cause an exuberant secretion of estrogen, for example, luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone levels are significantly increased, therefore, precocious puberty may appear in a 9-year-old girl.
1. Surgical treatment: There are no effective drugs to control this sex hormone type of pituitary microadenoma, and surgical treatment is usually required. Priority is given to neuroendoscopic pituitary microadenoma resection, which can effectively protect normal pituitary function without affecting the child’s continued growth and development.
2. Radiation therapy: For children who cannot undergo surgery for various reasons, radiation therapy can be considered as a possible cure for pituitary microadenomas, which are benign tumors after all. After all, pituitary microadenomas are benign tumors. However, radiation therapy may cause radioactive side effects.
When a child has a pituitary microadenoma, it is recommended that he or she be seen in a hospital in a timely manner for targeted treatment.
