Precocious puberty in girls is characterized by breast development, labia minora development, and changes in pubic hair in girls before the age of 8. There may also be accelerated bone maturation resulting in abnormal height.
1. Early sexual maturity in girls mainly manifests itself in breast development, nipple enlargement, areola enlargement, labia minora enlargement, pigmentation, and white vaginal discharge before the age of eight. The uterus and ovaries develop and menstruation may occur before the age of 10.
2. In addition to this, precocious puberty in girls can cause accelerated growth, accelerated bone maturation and advanced bone age due to premature development, resulting in low height in adulthood.
3. For those caused by intracranial tumors, neurological signs and symptoms such as increased cranial pressure, headache, vomiting and visual field defects will appear in the later stage.
Once girls are found to have symptoms of precocious puberty, they need to seek timely medical treatment and intervention.
