Craniopharyngioma originates from the flattened epithelial cells remaining during pituitary embryogenesis and is a common congenital intracranial benign tumor. Surgical resection is still the main treatment for craniopharyngioma, but the surgery is not difficult and is one of the most difficult neurosurgical procedures. For most patients, total resection is possible. Recently, we have done several craniopharyngioma total resections in a row, and we have realized that as a former member of the group said, “There are only techniques that are out of reach for craniopharyngioma resection, and there is nothing that cannot be completely resected”. In the past, most of the residuals were in the saddle and pituitary stalk, and postoperative treatment with gamma knife was still difficult to control in some cases. With the improvement of microscopic technology and microscopic equipment and instruments, as well as the accumulation of surgical experience, total resection is possible for most craniopharyngiomas.
