Refractory hypopharyngeal cancer

The patient was diagnosed as “chronic pharyngitis” by the local hospital. The patient’s symptoms did not improve after taking medication, and he was examined by fiberoptic laryngoscopy again. Later, the patient went to many hospitals, but all of them refused to operate because the tumor was huge and occupied most of the larynx and hypopharynx, and suggested conservative treatment. After careful examination and preparation, a perfect surgical plan was drawn up and a total laryngeal and hypopharyngeal resection with multiple flap revision was performed. The operation took nearly 12 hours and was a huge project, but it went smoothly. The patient was continuously observed for one month after the operation and the wound healed smoothly without serious complications such as flap necrosis, pharyngeal fistula and swallowing obstruction. The following is the PET-CT impact data of the patient before surgery, you can see how serious the patient’s condition was at that time, and even non-medical professionals can see how difficult it was to operate, especially after surgery, no serious complications such as pharyngeal fistula and swallowing obstruction occurred, and how hard it was for the patient to recover successfully and have a good quality of life! (The bright spot on the color image and the black part on the black and white image are the tumor).
