World Kidney Day, a call to care for common kidney health

This year, March 12 is the 10th World Kidney Day of the International Society of Nephrology, with the theme “Caring for the Common Kidney”, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and prevention of chronic kidney disease and to reduce the risk of kidney disease. Kidney Day encourages people with knowledge about the importance of the kidney and the importance of kidney health to their friends and to society at large. People are advised to pay attention to the early signs of kidney disease and to have regular checkups for people at risk of kidney disease. Continuing last year’s Kidney Day theme of encouraging people to start drinking a glass of water every day, this year also emphasizes the importance of drinking water, so encourage giving a glass of water to me as well. Kidneys are very sensitive to dehydration and severe dehydration can cause acute pre-renal injury. So it is very necessary to develop good habits, life pay attention to the diet balance, binge drinking and full, alcohol abuse, unclean diet caused by acute gastroenteritis, digestive dysfunction is a common cause of acute kidney injury, we should pay attention to avoid disease from the mouth, severe diarrhea and vomiting must be timely replenishment of body water, especially in summer to pay attention to prevent heat stroke dehydration. Drinking water is powerful for the removal of various metabolites and “body waste”. At present, the incidence of metabolic diseases and diabetes in China is growing at an alarming rate. Drinking enough water can reduce hyperuricemia, promote uric acid excretion, and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular syndrome and its hazards. Drugs are gradually becoming the main cause of chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. Many drugs allergy or accumulation, can cause chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury, aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as gentamicin, kanamycin, isopamicin), sulfonamides (such as cotrimoxazole), antipyretic analgesics (such as ibuprofen, paracetamol), diuretics (such as mannitol), etc. are easy to cause kidney damage, and their dose and course should be controlled. Many countries treat antipyretic drugs as over-the-counter drugs, and patients can buy them on their own, so they become the first cause of drug-related acute kidney injury, not knowing that many “cold medicines” contain antipyretic ingredients. Chinese herbal medicine has long been favored by the majority of patients because of its reliable efficacy and no obvious toxic side effects on the basis of individualized medication, and is often used as a substitute for Western medicine and reduce the toxic side effects of Western medicine and used in clinical practice, but its safety is rarely suspected, the toxic side effects of Chinese medicine is far from being underestimated, coupled with the distorted advertising of some commercial companies, many people believe that Chinese medicine preparations do not have any toxic side effects. So much so that some of the herbal medicines are abused, over-applied and applied for too long a time, thus causing liver, kidney and other organ damage, and in serious cases, life-threatening.
