The current contraindications for transoral thyroidectomy include: 1. patients with previous thyroid or neck surgery or radiotherapy; 2. definite malignant thyroid tumor with surrounding tissue invasion or metastasis; 3. giant thyroid tumor or retrosternal goiter; 4. hyperthyroidism; 5. acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity; 6. patients with contraindications to general anesthesia via nasal canal.
