What are the treatment options for thyroid nodules?

In recent years, many people get a thyroid ultrasound report card, see the above written “thyroid nodules”, often heart astonishing, normal physical examination of the population, the detection rate of thyroid nodules on palpation is about 3% to 7%, high-resolution ultrasound detection rate of about 20% to 76%. As you can see, the incidence of thyroid nodules is really not low. Some people are very frightened when they find a thyroid nodule and ask their doctor to cut it out quickly, or take a lot of Chinese medicine to get rid of it. What should I do about thyroid nodules? There are benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Treatment of malignant thyroid nodules: The pathological types of thyroid cancer include papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma. The first three types (the majority) require surgery and have a good prognosis. Undifferentiated thyroid cancer (less common in this type) is highly malignant and has distant metastases at the time of diagnosis, so surgery alone is difficult to achieve the goal of treatment. Management of benign thyroid nodules: According to some clinical reports, 95% of thyroid nodules are found to be benign. Some of these nodules may subside on their own, and some inflammatory nodules may shrink if they are treated according to medical advice and medication. If necessary, thyroid ultrasound and repeat thyroid nodule puncture may be performed. A small number of patients require treatment. Common interventions: Surgery: Which benign nodules require surgery? Surgical treatment is feasible in patients with thyroid nodules with local pressure symptoms, or with hyperthyroidism, or when there is progressive enlargement of the nodule or when FNAC tests suggest suspicion of cancer. Medications: Both of the above approaches may cause hypothyroidism by eliminating the thyroid tissue; some thyroid nodules are combined with hypo/hyperthyroidism at the same time, when medications are needed to correct to reach a balanced level. In the face of such an epidemic of thyroid nodules, it is better to treat it as a mole in the palm of your hand, a sign of age, instead of seeing it as a beast of prey. You are inseparable, you cherish each other, all you have to do is to understand it well, know how big it is and remember where it is.
