A clinical observation study was conducted on the combined application of low-dose theophylline and Chinese herbal medicine compound Tianlong Asthmatic Coughing Ling in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (hereafter referred to as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Sixty cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were treated with low-dose theophylline in combination with Tianlongcoughingling (treatment group) and compared with 46 cases in the conventional theophylline control group. In the treatment group, theophylline was administered orally in a controlled-release form: 200 mg/d (half tablet/day), taken orally once a day, 1-2 hours before bedtime; Tianlong Wheezing and Coughing capsules were provided by the Preparation Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical College, with each capsule containing 1 g of raw medicine, and the usage: 3 capsules for adults 3 times a day; 2 capsules for 6-14 years old, 1-2 times a day. Each capsule contains 1 gram of raw herbs. If it is accompanied by cold symptoms such as white and thin sputum, cold in the extremities and itchy throat, use 2-4 grams of dried ginger and 3-5 grams of hosin in decoction; if it is accompanied by hot symptoms such as yellow and sticky sputum, sore throat, fever and thirst, add 15-30 grams of fishy grass and 15-30 grams of asteranthus root in decoction; if it is accompanied by deficiency symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating and dullness, palpitation and sleep, use 3-5 grams of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum and 5-10 grams of Atractylodes Macrocephala in decoction. Both groups received conventional treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including Western medicine to expectorant, cough suppression, and infection control in case of infection. Duration of treatment: The duration of treatment was 2 months for both groups.
