What is back elastofibroma

Elastofibroma is a benign fibrous tissue tumor that occurs deep in the subscapular region of the back. It is a painless lump and can cause scapular pain and discomfort after some exertion. The incidence of this disease is high in middle-aged and old people, and the incidence is higher in women than in men, and it mainly occurs in older women and laborers. The ratio of men to women is about 1:9, which may be related to abnormal trauma; 2. The site of occurrence is mostly on the deep side of the subscapularis, unilateral or bilateral, with a single occurrence, and a higher incidence on the right side, typically on the deep side of the subscapularis, rhomboid and latissimus dorsi muscles. Other sites may occur in the sciatic tuberosity, greater trochanter, groin, upper arm deltoid, axilla, elbow, etc.; 4. Occupation is closely related to the incidence. Especially for heavy manual laborers, the incidence is larger; 5. Tumors grow slowly and are painless, only a few have local hidden pain or soreness. Stretch fibroids are slow growing, and the tumor is mostly flat and round, attached to the thorax, and the long axis is consistent with the human body, its size varies, generally small in size, and those with diameter >10cm are rare. The tumor has no envelope, is relatively fixed and can extend into the surrounding muscle tissue. The tumor is solid in texture, and the cut surface is grayish white; 6. The effect of surgical excision alone is good, and there is no recurrence after surgery; 7. Pathological characteristics of elastofibroma: HE staining shows more collagen fibers, eosinophilic red color, irregular edges, and different internal coloring. Elastin fibroma is an indistinctly bounded verrucous lesion. The current unified view is that this disease is not a true tumor, but a proliferative tumor-like lesion.
