I. Advantages of the medical philosophy of Chinese medicine The two different traditional natural philosophical ideas of China and the West have bred and produced two different systems of medical science. Chinese medicine and Western medicine. The holistic view of TCM coincides with modern biological holography and system theory, and shows philosophical advantages. (1) The holistic concept of “unity of heaven and man” is the philosophical advantage of TCM. This holistic concept is the basic spirit of traditional Chinese culture and the philosophical foundation of TCM. (2) The history of the development of Chinese medicine, using the changing rules of the unity of opposites and yin and yang, shows that Chinese medicine practitioners throughout the ages have not been free from the domination of philosophy, which is the key to grasping the laws of development of Chinese medicine itself. China’s earliest philosophical work “Zhou Yi” points out that “the view of change in the yin and Yang and the trigrams, play on the rigid and flexible and lines.” That is, various changes in the trigrams originated in the opposition of yin and yang, the role of yin and yang rigid and flexible play is the basis for changes in things. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine is almost entirely accepted this philosophical thinking and combined with the practice of development, pointing out that the unity of Yin and Yang opposites is the general law of movement and change of all things, this philosophical thinking has also been influencing the development of Chinese medicine, it can be said that without the guidance of philosophy there is no medical success. The concept of discernment in Chinese medicine is guided by dialectical thinking. Dialectical thinking is used to capture the connection between phenomenon and essence and to create new treatments and new doctrines. For example, Ye Tianshi’s creation of the differentiation of Wei-Qi, Ying-Blood and Wu Jutong’s reinforcement of the differentiation of San-Jiao, although inspired by the knowledge of their predecessors, fundamentally lies in their application of the law of dialectical thinking in TCM, recognizing that Wei-Qi, Ying-Blood and the upper, middle and lower San-Jiao have different pathological levels, different external manifestations (symptoms) and different internal links (symptoms), thus revealing the law of prevention and treatment of warm diseases. The development of science has made mankind realize that nonlinear complex systems have become a successful way of solving problems and an interdisciplinary methodology for dealing with natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, which is a counter-evidence of the scientific connotation and value of the holistic view and system theory emphasized by TCM.
