Dangers of functional hypoglycemia

  Many people think that hypoglycemia will not occur after eating, but there is a kind of hypoglycemia that occurs one and a half hours after breakfast, which is functional hypoglycemia. According to the clinical consultation, about 60% of the hypoglycemia occur in functional hypoglycemia, and it is more common in middle-aged women aged 20~40 years old, and it can develop due to emotional excitement, hunger and restlessness.  Functional hypoglycemia usually does not occur in the morning when fasting, but often occurs 2~3 hours after breakfast, and less after lunch and dinner. Because this disease is mainly caused by factors such as unstable plant nerve function or anxiety and emotional excitement. In the event of hypoglycemic reaction patients should not be nervous first and must be fully rested. Clinically, each attack lasts about 15-20 minutes and can be relieved by itself. If not relieved, patients can drink a little sugar water or sugary drinks. For people who usually have anxiety symptoms or compulsive behaviors are more obvious, they can keep a little sedative medicine at home and take it when hypoglycemia occurs.  People with functional hypoglycemia should usually eat small amounts, multiple meals, and eat a mixed diet, avoiding a monosaccharide diet, such as choosing both bread and other foods for breakfast, and also eating some fatty foods, especially protein, which can stimulate insulin secretion and act more slowly, and help prevent the appearance of hypoglycemia.
