Dangers of Varicocele

Varicocele is a common disease in young and middle-aged men, which is caused by the dilatation, tortuosity and elongation of the vascular plexus of the spermatic cord (vascular plexus) due to the stagnation of blood flow in the spermatic cord. Since the incidence is so high, what is the harm to men’s health? 1. It causes ischemia and hypoxia in the testes and other tissues. Varicocele causes lack of elasticity in the walls of the venous blood vessels, resulting in lack of power for blood return, causing blood stagnation, which can increase the venous pressure to compress the arteries, and the nutrients and oxygen carried by the arterial blood cannot be fully perfused to the testes, resulting in testicular ischemia and hypoxia. 2. Causes high temperature of tissues and organs. Usually the temperature inside the scrotum is 2°C lower than the body temperature, which is conducive to sperm production in the testes. For example, a glass of water that does not flow will become stale and spoiled after a long time, as the saying goes, “running water does not rot”. The same due to varicocele leads to blood stagnation, blood can not effectively flow, heat can not be taken away with the flow of blood, resulting in the testes in the environment of high temperature, while aggravating tissue ischemia and hypoxia, over time seriously affect the sperm function of the testes. 3, toxic substances reflux stagnation. Varicocele due to its testicular venous valve is not fully developed or lack of the toxic products of kidney metabolism can be refluxed to the testes, while the testes and other tissue metabolites, due to poor blood flow in the spermatic vein, also stagnate together, appearing to “add fuel to the fire” situation, the testes continue to produce toxic effects. As a result, varicocele leads to testicular ischemia, hypoxia and high temperature as well as the reflux of toxic substances, resulting in a reduction of testicular spermatogenic cells and accelerated apoptosis of spermatogenic cells, testicular growth stagnation and atrophy, eventually causing sperm production disorders, resulting in male infertility. At the same time, varicocele causes testicular pain and scrotal dampness and other discomforts, which can also seriously affect the quality of life of men.
