How long can you live with liver cysts?

Liver cysts are benign lesions that are not life threatening and therefore most patients survive to a normal life span. Most liver cysts are congenital liver cysts, which are usually small in diameter and have less impact on liver function, and patients usually have no conscious symptoms and no definite impact on survival. Due to the gradual increase in size of liver cysts, they may cause compression of the surrounding liver tissues and affect the liver function. Therefore, surgical intervention needs to be considered if the right lobe of the liver cyst is >10 cm, the left lobe of the liver cyst is >5 cm, or the right lobe of the liver cyst is 8-10 cm near the margin. In addition, multiple hepatic cysts may usually be combined with polycystic kidneys, which can cause complications such as hypertension and uremia, and will have some impact on life expectancy. However, the exact length of survival of patients with hereditary polycystic liver cysts should depend on the degree of progression of the disease. Patients with hepatic cysts need to pay attention to enhance self-protection awareness, have regular medical check-ups, and also to achieve a reasonable diet.
