Menopause can be managed. Menopause is associated with hot flashes, sweating, irritability, insomnia, agitation, or subsequent cardiovascular complications such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, or atherosclerosis with calcium loss, followed by Alzheimer’s disease. If there are no contraindications to hormone replacement therapy, it is safer to administer estrogen and progestin replacement therapy. If the uterus has been removed, a single estrogen replacement therapy can be given.
