Diet for patients with liver cirrhosis

(1) Sugar foods: adequate supply of sugar. Generally speaking, the proportion of sugar in the diet accounts for 40%, sugar not only protects the liver, enhances the body resistance, but also reduces protein decomposition. As the patient’s liver function is impaired, excessive use of sugar leads to body fat, and even the formation of fatty liver, aggravating the burden on the liver. (2) Protein food: for patients with cirrhosis, protein supplementation should be decided according to the degree of protein deficiency and condition, patients who are able to eat are used orally, while severe dyspepsia, poor absorption function, should consider the input of amino acids, protein and plasma. Daily dietary 60g of efficient protein can meet the needs, can be alternated with fish, lean meat, eggs, dairy, soy products. When there is a tendency of liver damage, it should not be more than 20g per day. (3) Lipid food: when cirrhosis, lipid metabolism is affected, and at the same time, the metabolism of lipids can cause liver damage, so when liver function is obviously impaired, a strict low-fat diet is recommended to reduce the burden on the liver, and to strengthen the supplementation of proteins and sugars to prevent the occurrence of fatty liver. (4) Supplementary vitamins and trace elements: Cirrhosis can cause vitamin and trace element deficiency due to various factors, fresh vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements, which are the best food. Pay attention to supplement vitamin B1, B2, C, E and K, trace elements such as zinc such as selenium, vitamin deficiency symptoms should be oral or intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. (5) Restriction of water and salt: for patients with ascites or edema, sodium and water intake must be controlled.
