Infantile hemangiomas have a natural course of definite proliferation, stabilization, and regression. Most infants have only aesthetic problems, a few affect function, and very few are life-threatening. Therefore, treatment should be weighed in terms of life, function, aesthetics, and patient needs. Although the pathogenesis of hemangioma is not fully understood, most hemangiomas can achieve better results with individualized symptomatic treatment. It is recommended to treat hemangiomas according to the following principles: (1) early treatment; (2) targeted treatment according to the individual characteristics of the hemangioma; (3) lightening of skin color and softening of the tumor texture as the goal of treatment; and (4) post-treatment cosmetic treatment as necessary. At present, the treatment methods for hemangioma are as follows: (1) surgery; (2) laser therapy; (3) cryotherapy; (4) radiation and radionuclide therapy; (5) local injection of sclerosing agents; (6) photodynamic therapy; (7) hormone therapy; (8) oral insulin.
