What are the symptoms of simple goiter?

The most important manifestation of goiter alone is thickening of the neck, which is one of the most intuitive symptoms that patients can see. Simple goiter is usually asymptomatic in the early stages, but with the development of the disease the following symptoms can appear: 1. Thickening of the neck and tightening of the collar are found. At this time, ultrasound examinations can reveal nodules of varying sizes on the thyroid gland, usually asymmetrical, sometimes with nodules clustered together, in different locations, and sometimes with uneven echogenicity. If the mass is large, it can sometimes compress the trachea. If it is mild, there are usually no obvious symptoms, but if it is severe, it can cause difficulty in breathing, breathlessness and even coughing. If the goiter grows backward and wraps around the esophagus, it may compress the esophagus and cause swallowing difficulties and dysphagia. However, sometimes the combination of malignant tumors of the thyroid gland can cause paralysis of the vocal cords and hoarseness of the voice, resulting in the involvement of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing breathing difficulties. If you find an enlarged thyroid gland, you need to go to the hospital in time for a checkup and get the right treatment after diagnosis.
