Snakes are extremely widespread in the world, and their species vary according to geography, climate and environment. More than 2,200 species of snakes are known to exist in the world, belonging to 10 families, of which there are more than 600 species of venomous snakes, and 195 species of major venomous snakes that are fatal to humans. There are snakes in all provinces of China, but most of them are concentrated in the south of the Yangtze River and southwestern provinces. 174 species of snakes are known to exist, with 48 species of poisonous ones, of which 10 species are common major venomous snakes. 1. Pit viper: also known as ground flat snake and earth viper. They are mostly about 20-60 cm in length. It is vicious by nature and often makes active attacks, but is not very toxic. Bamboo leaf green is widely distributed in China, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hubei, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong, and can also be seen in South and Southeast Asia. 3.Golden-ringed snake: also known as iron-bound gold, golden-legged belt, golden armor, etc.. Medium in size, generally more than 1 meter long, the color is more vivid than other poisonous snakes. It wears a black cap, has a black and yellow pattern all over its body, and has an oval-shaped head. The golden-ringed snake lives in the jungles of plains or mountains by streams and ponds, and it comes out of its cave at dusk. It is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan, Hainan, Jiangxi, Yunnan and southwestern Guizhou. Overseas, it is mainly distributed in Southeast Asia and South Asia. 4.Silver-ringed snake: Also known as the white-flowered snake, white-jointed snake, silver-legged band, scale snake, etc. The silver-ringed snake is slightly smaller than the golden-ringed snake; the difference is the black and white ring pattern all over the body. Silver-ringed snakes live in plains, hills and near water at the foot of mountains. They are often nocturnal and often stop on the road to rest after eating and do not return to their caves until late at night or at dawn. Night walkers are often bitten if they are not careful. The silver-ringed snake is slightly more widespread than the golden-ringed snake, and can be found in the southern provinces of China and Southeast Asia. 5.Five-step snake: also known as sharp-nosed pit viper, herb snake, hundred-flower snake, checkerboard snake, snake, etc. Five-step snake, as the name implies its toxicity is very fierce, it is bitten, as long as you take five steps will fall dead, but this is an exaggeration. The snake is particularly peculiar in appearance: its head is triangular in shape, with a prominent and upward-pointing snout, a grayish-brown dorsal surface covered with grayish-white diamond-shaped square spots, and a white ventral surface with several distinct black round spots. The five-step snake generally does not actively attack its opponents. It is mainly found in Hubei, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi and southern Taiwan. 6, Viper: also known as round spotted viper, ancient money viper, money viper, turtle back shell. Body length of about 90-120 cm or so, drive thick, short tail, head triangular, with a clear distinction between the neck, the body is stout and shorter tail, the back of the head is covered with small angular scales, body dorsal brown, the back of the head has three round spots, the back of the body also has three longitudinal rows of large round class, dorsal spine a row of round spots and both sides of the staggered arrangement, round spot central purple-brown, surrounded by black, set with yellow-white edge, ventral gray-white, with 3-5 rows The ventral surface is grayish white with 3-5 rows of dark brown spots close to half-moon shape. The viper is mainly distributed in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan. 7.Cobra: also known as the blowing wind snake, rice spoon head, black meat snake and so on. It has a pair of white black heart spots on the back of its head and neck, much like the glasses people wear, hence the name cobra. When angered, it will raise the front half of its body, swaying from side to side and making a “whirring” sound, while expanding the ribs of its neck, becoming flat and flat, as if it were a face wearing glasses. Cobras are large in size, generally 1-2 meters. Mainly distributed in the two provinces, Anhui, Zhejiang, Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Fujian, Taiwan and the Jinsha River Valley in Sichuan. 8.King Cobra: also known as the King Cobra, the Great Cobra, and the Great Flat-necked Snake. The king cobra is very similar to the cobra, but much larger than the cobra, with a body length of 3-4 meters, the longest being 6 meters. King cobras have white inverted V-shaped spots on the flattened neck and 40-50 narrow white stripes on the back of the body. The king cobra lives mainly in tropical and subtropical areas and has a narrow distribution. Therefore, it is rare in most parts of the country. It is mainly found in the border areas of Yunnan and Guangdong, and also in some mountainous areas of Fujian and Guizhou. In foreign countries is distributed in Southeast Asia. 9. Branded iron head: Also known as tortoise shell flower snake, money leopard, shoot shell spot, hanging tree cat and so on. This species of snake has a distinctive feature, with a distinctly triangular head and a thin neck, shaped like a branding iron head, hence the name. The body is predominantly black-brown with yellow-green or rust-colored spots. The head is triangular, short tail, pattern is thin, the body size is not large, mainly small and medium-sized. Mainly distributed in Anhui, Xijiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Guizhou. It lives in bushes, streamsides, or grass piles or rock crevices near mountain dwellings in hills and mountains at altitudes above 100 meters. 10.Sea snake: Among the 50 kinds of sea snakes known, there are 15 species in China. The main species are: green-ringed sea snake, ringed sea snake, light gray sea snake, flat-chinned sea snake, small-headed sea snake and six species of sea viper. Each species is highly venomous and has a high lethality rate. The sea snake is not evenly proportioned at all, with the front half of its body being cylindrical, thin and small, and the back half gradually becoming thicker, with a flattened tail, like a boat oar, to facilitate swimming in the sea.
