According to a foreign survey, 55.42% of men over the age of 40 may have androgen deficiency symptoms. Male menopause syndrome can occur, and the older the age, the more significant the symptoms. However, in China, research work on male menopause has just started, and society is still not sufficiently aware of this problem. The main symptoms of male menopause syndrome are: lack of energy, memory loss, reduced sleep, easy fatigue, reduced ability to work, loss of interest in things around them, depression, anxiety, irritability, paranoia, and nervousness. In addition, some people also show osteoporosis, loss of libido, and erectile dysfunction. Most scholars now believe that male menopause syndrome is mainly due to the decrease in testosterone secretion as men’s testes shrink with age. In addition, chronic diseases, poor lifestyle such as smoking and alcohol abuse, and poor living environment can also lead to a decrease in testosterone levels. Although the testosterone level decreases slowly and gradually, it will trigger a series of symptoms mentioned above, which will affect the quality of life of men. Moreover, the lack of androgen levels in men is also inextricably linked to osteoporosis, cardiovascular system diseases, geriatric diabetes, depression in middle and old age, cognitive dysfunction in middle and old age, etc. This survey also shows that the percentage of men over 40 years old with reduced libido is 71.9%; 82.35% of those who feel that their physical strength and stamina have decreased; and 56.47% of those who feel that the pleasure of life has decreased. These data further prove that men entering the age of 40 have undergone significant changes in both sexual ability, physical ability, and mental psychology compared to before. These abnormal performances may be related to androgen deficiency in middle-aged and older men. Once men are faced with androgen deficiency symptoms, in addition to cultivating a good lifestyle, they can also undergo androgen replacement therapy under the guidance of a urologist or male surgeon when appropriate. Through androgen replacement therapy, men can improve androgen deficiency symptoms, improve physical and psychological conditions and libido, increase bone density, reduce fat mass, alter fat production and distribution, and reduce cardiovascular diseases, thus improving the overall quality of male life. In addition to medication, strengthening physical exercise, keeping an optimistic mind and stopping bad habits are also very important means to relieve men’s menopausal symptoms.
