We often encounter patients who request a semen analysis after just one month of medication to understand the effectiveness of the treatment. This request is unreasonable. For example, the increase in sperm count can only be seen after three months of medication. Some people request a semen analysis within three months or even a month of medication, and when they find an increase in sperm count, they think “the dawn of time”, but this is actually just a fluctuation in semen parameters. Therefore, when a patient visits a doctor for the first time, the doctor often asks the patient to undergo at least three semen analyses to get an overview of the semen routine, and if the judgment is based on only one test report, it is likely to lead to a “blind man feeling the elephant” and mislead the patient.
