How to treat congenital syphilis

Congenital syphilis is primarily treated with penicillin. For early congenital syphilis up to two years of age, the cerebrospinal fluid can be checked and treated with benzathine penicillin if the cerebrospinal fluid is normal. If the cerebrospinal fluid is abnormal, treat with aqueous penicillin G or procaine penicillin G. If there is no way to check the cerebrospinal fluid, you can follow the treatment of abnormal cerebrospinal fluid. For advanced congenital syphilis over two years of age, treatment can be given with procaine penicillin G. If the penicillin is allergic, treatment can be switched to erythromycin.
