Can neurosyphilis be cured?

Neurosyphilis is mainly caused by infection with syphilis spirochetes, which invades the nervous system and causes damage to the meninges, brain, blood vessels or spinal cord, and is an important manifestation of systemic damage in the late stage of syphilis patients. The infection is mainly due to unclean sexual intercourse or contact with the blood of the carrier of the pathogen. Although neurosyphilis is a serious condition, it can be cured as long as the patient maintains a good attitude and actively cooperates with the treatment. The treatment for syphilis is mainly with penicillin and ceftriaxone sodium. As neurosyphilis belongs to the symptom manifestation of late syphilis, the treatment needs to increase the dose of penicillin, the daily dose is between 16 million and 24 million, using intravenous attention, usually divided into 4 to 6 injections, 10 to 14 days a course of treatment. A review of RPR changes needs to be performed after 3 months after the end of treatment and a review of cerebrospinal fluid after 6 months. If the patient is allergic to penicillin, erythromycin or tetracycline can be used for treatment. In addition, symptomatic treatment is needed according to the complications. Anti-epileptic drugs such as carbamazepine and other stabilizing drugs should be given to patients with convulsions, and pain relief can be given to patients with spinal consumption. Patients with syphilis must seek medical attention in a timely manner and actively cooperate with the treatment. If the disease is found, their partners should also be examined in a timely manner and both parties should be treated together. After curing, they should be reviewed regularly to reduce recurrence.
