Talk about the prevention and treatment of depression

Depression is a common disease that endangers human physical and mental health, about 13-20% of people have experienced depression in their lifetime, and its lifetime prevalence is 6.1-9.5%, with women higher than men. What is of concern is that in recent years, the incidence of depression among young and middle-aged people is gradually increasing, which should draw more attention. Since the majority of depression onset age is in the working age group, 15% of severe depression can die by suicide. In other words, depression can both affect people’s work and endanger patients’ lives. Depression is not new to many people, but it is fundamentally different from general “unhappiness” and has three main symptoms: depressed mood, slowed thinking and motor inhibition. Depressed mood means not being happy, always sad, and even pessimistic and despairing. Delayed thinking means that the patient feels that his or her brain is not working well, cannot remember things, and has difficulty in thinking about problems. Patients feel that their brains are empty and dumb. Motor inhibition means inactivity, laziness, slow walking, little speech, etc. In severe cases, the patient may not eat or move and cannot take care of himself. Other symptoms of depression – There are many different manifestations of depression. It is not common for patients to have the above typical symptoms, and many patients have only one or two of them. The severity also varies from person to person. Depressed mood, anxiety, loss of interest, lack of energy, pessimism and disappointment, and low self-esteem are all common symptoms of depression, and sometimes it is difficult to distinguish them from a general short period of bad mood. Here is an easy way to introduce to you: if the above mentioned discomfort is serious in the morning and partially relieved in the afternoon or evening, then it is more likely to suffer from depression, which is the rhythmic change of the so-called day-heavy and night-heavy depression. The somatic symptoms of depression are the most likely symptoms to cause misdiagnosis. Somatic symptoms are relative to mental symptoms, that is, feeling physically unwell. Although depression is a mental illness, many patients have physical discomfort: such as dry mouth, constipation, loss of appetite, indigestion, palpitations, shortness of breath and chest tightness, etc., which are generally common in elderly patients. These patients are often seen in the general outpatient clinic of a general hospital, and all laboratory tests show normal. If parents and family members feel unwell and no other organic disease can be detected, doctors suggest that they should visit a specialist hospital and will recover as soon as possible with the help of a psychiatrist. The most dangerous symptom of suicide caused by depression. Patients with depression are prone to suicidal thoughts in severe cases due to depressed mood, pessimism and anxiety. And, because the patient’s thinking and logic are basically normal, the success rate of committing suicide is also higher. Suicide is one of the most dangerous symptoms of depression. According to research, the suicide rate of depressed people is 20 times higher than that of the general population, and more than half of the social suicide population may be depressed. Some unexplained suicides may have suffered from severe depression before they were born, but were just not detected in time. Since suicide occurs only when the disease has progressed to a certain level of severity, early detection and treatment are very important for people with depression. The incidence of depression is very high, but the causes of depression are still not clear, except for external factors, genetic factors are very important. The closer the blood relationship is, the higher the chance of the disease. Some patients with depression usually do not go to the hospital voluntarily, so there is a great insidiousness. Patients may suffer from a lack of interest in family life that leads to the breakup of the family; a lack of concentration at work that leads to frequent mistakes; and some successful people who have a successful career and live a very affluent life may take the path of suicide due to depression. The insidious nature of depression is the demon that endangers the patient’s life. Therefore, when someone around us shows sullen expression, sad face, lazy speech, low mood, no interest in things around them for more than two weeks, we should consider whether they are suffering from depression and should be advised to see a psychiatrist to avoid accidents. Depression is a disease that people know about earlier, but people are often ashamed to admit that they have a mental illness and do not pay attention to it. In fact, in a regular psychiatric hospital, doctors can quickly diagnose depression through examination and consultation. There are also many effective medications for depression, so patients who are already suffering from depression can rest assured that they can live and work normally as long as they are actively treated. Self-care for depression. Depression is a common mental illness, and if you have it, you should seek consultation with a psychiatrist as soon as possible to get timely treatment. In addition, self-care is essential for early recovery. Do the things that interest you most. If you are not successful in your career, find ways to improve your skills, start with what interests you most, or find other opportunities for success. Plan activities that give you pleasure and confidence, especially on weekends, such as cleaning the house, riding a race car, writing letters, listening to music, shopping, etc. It is also important to have a regular routine. Try to eat on time, have a regular routine, and schedule some time for physical exercise every day. Participating in physical exercise can improve one’s mental state and improve the function of the vegetative nervous system, which is beneficial to one’s mental health. Make good friends. People who often keep in touch with friends, their mental state is much better than the isolated and solitary people, especially in a bad situation, “friends are good doctors”. The first thing you can do is to talk to your heart, but also to make some funny, amusing and enjoyable friends. Make it a habit to keep in touch with friends on a regular basis to avoid and cure loneliness and alienation and to reduce depressive symptoms. Avoid taking certain medications. Oral contraceptives, barbiturates and sulfonamides can cause depression and should be avoided as much as possible. Also, eating more foods rich in vitamin B and amino acids, such as cereals, fish, green vegetables, and eggs, can be beneficial in getting rid of depression.
