The severity of hemangioma on baby’s head needs to be analyzed and judged according to its nature, symptoms, location, size and other factors. For babies with hemangiomas, benign tumors are the most common, and most of them can be effectively treated by medication, surgical resection, physical therapy and other methods, so parents don’t need to worry too much.
Most of the hemangiomas are congenital benign tumors or caused by vascular malformations, which are mostly found in baby’s head, face, neck, and sometimes also in limbs.
1. Medication is divided into local topical medication and oral medication, local topical medication such as propranolol ointment, timolol ointment, etc. and oral medication such as prenalol, prednisone, sirolimus, etc. Medication should be carried out in strict accordance with the doctor’s prescription, and don’t give medication to the baby without authorization.
2. Surgery to remove the small lesions of hemangioma at the early stage is suitable for patients with hemangioma who are ineffective in drug treatment or whose appearance is damaged. Surgical treatment should be chosen according to the type of hemangioma and the progress of the lesion after clear diagnosis by doctors.
3. Physiotherapy is mostly based on laser treatment, which has better therapeutic effect on inhibiting the proliferation of superficial infantile hemangioma, and can reduce the color of hemangioma and capillary dilatation erythema after treatment, but it can only improve the superficial symptoms obviously.
Usually benign hemangiomas do not have obvious symptoms, but because they are mostly exposed on the surface of the skin such as the head and face, they will affect the appearance. Some benign hemangiomas may disappear on their own as time progresses. For those hemangiomas that cannot disappear on their own or are still proliferating, parents are advised to actively seek medical treatment to avoid adverse psychological effects on the growth of their babies.
