Causes of fetal malposition

After the fetus is formed, it is constantly moving inside the mother’s womb, so there are different fetal positions. However, some fetal positions are abnormal, which is commonly known as fetal malposition. There are many reasons for fetal malposition, such as too much or too little amniotic fluid, multiple pregnancies, pelvic stenosis, huge babies, abnormal placenta, loose abdominal wall, fetal malformation, uterine malformation, abnormal umbilical cord and many other reasons that may cause fetal malposition. If a woman has too much amniotic fluid after pregnancy, the fetus will have a wide range of motion, which will easily cause fetal malposition, and if the fetus has too little amniotic fluid, the fetus will have a narrow range of motion, which will also cause fetal malposition. In case of multiple pregnancies, such as twins or triplets, the fetus is crowded and will restrict the movement, thus causing fetal malposition. If the pregnant woman has a narrow pelvis or a huge baby, the fetal position will also be wrong due to the lack of space for movement. Abnormal umbilical cord may cause the fetus to have insufficient nutrient supply, which may cause the fetus to be less mobile and thus may also cause fetal malposition. In short, there are many reasons for fetal malposition, and the specific factors that cause it need to go to the hospital for relevant examinations to confirm the diagnosis. However, if the fetal position is not correct in the early stage of pregnancy, it does not indicate a big problem, while in the late stage of pregnancy, if the fetal position is not correct continuously, it needs to be reviewed continuously, and the delivery method should be decided according to the situation during the delivery.
