If the patient has severe gastrointestinal mucosal edema and ascites, which can affect digestion and absorption, a light and easily digestible semi-liquid diet should be the mainstay. In other patients, a low-salt, low-fat diet should be the mainstay. The daily salt intake should be maintained below 6g if there is no edema, and 2-3g if there is edema, and salted vegetables, MSG and baking soda should be strictly prohibited. If you are in the early stage of nephrotic syndrome, you can increase the intake of protein food appropriately, maintain the protein intake at 1-1.5g/kg/day, and focus on high quality protein, such as various lean meat, milk, eggs, etc. If in chronic or non-acute phase of nephrotic syndrome, protein intake should be appropriately reduced, and protein intake should be maintained at about 1g/kg body weight per day.
