  As it turns out, there is very little that parents can do ‘for’ their children. If your control fails, both you and she will feel that you are an incompetent parent; if your control succeeds, she will become more dependent on you and increase her own sense of incompetence, which is a ‘lose-lose’ situation either way. So, as a loving person, the bottom line of your behavior is ‘don’t take responsibility for her behavior’! Stop locking up the pantry for her, stop supervising her all night, and stop paying for her snacks! Until she does these things on her own, things may not get better.
