The thing about gout

What is gout? Gout is a group of diseases in which tissue damage is caused by the accumulation of uric acid in the blood as a result of impaired purine metabolism and/or reduced uric acid excretion in the body, resulting in a plasma concentration of uric acid that exceeds the saturation limit. Here, it is also crucial to clarify what purines are. Purine: organic compound, molecular formula C5H4N4, colorless crystals, in the body purine oxidation to uric acid. So where do purines come from? Source 1: food; Source 2: intermediate products of nucleoprotein metabolism in the body. And uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism. Friends, now you may say: if you consume food with too much purine or if you have less uric acid in your body, you will develop gout! Now you will understand why there is a common understanding in coastal cities: you can’t drink beer with seafood! It’s not that beer has any chemical reaction with seafood, but that beer and seafood are both foods with high purine content, and eating them together plays a superimposed role of purines. This is the true face of gout. So how does gout manifest itself in the body of our fellow man? There are 4 clinical stages of gout development. 1. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia stage. Only uric acid is continuously or fluctuatingly elevated. From the time of uric acid increase to the appearance of symptoms, it can last for years or decades or a lifetime without symptoms. In general, 5% – 12% of patients with hyperuricemia develop gout 20-40 years after hyperuricemia. It is easy to see that uric acid also has its deep pockets, right? 2. Acute gouty arthritis. Gout, as the name implies, is dominated by pain. Patients mostly wake up at night with sudden pain in the toes. The pain can last 1-2 days, such as knife-like pain, with the thumb and big toe, followed by the back of the foot, heel, knee, wrist, fat, elbow and other joints in order. Peri-articular redness and swelling. Mostly in 3 days or wind weeks after the natural relief. So, gout is not a justifiable person, right. 3, intermittent period. To be between two attacks is an intermittent period. Most patients have a second attack is within six months to two years, and individual patients have no second attack. Do not be happy too early oh, if not effectively treated, the attacks will be frequent, the interval will be shortened, the symptoms will worsen! It seems that the gout, but also the bullying soft fear of hard minions! 4, chronic period. It’s really time to talk about a protracted war! The main manifestations are chronic arthritis, gouty nephritis, urinary tract infection and gout stones. Now, see the true face of gout? It’s not just a casualty, right? Don’t be afraid! Through diet and medication, to improve the purine metabolism in the body, lower the blood uric acid level, can control the development of the disease! For medication, there are experts and scholars to help you navigate. I, here, only talk about nutritional therapy. 1. Purine restricted diet. The daily purine intake is below 150mg. In the 3 days before the onset of the disease, eat a diet that contains almost no or very little purines, such as eggs, vegetables, fruits, fine grains, milk and its products. Now feel it, not coarse grains are good at all times. Now the species containing purine between 0 —-25 mg per 100 grams of food are given as examples: egg white, pig’s blood, sea cucumber, sea jelly skin, white rice, corn, flour, cabbage, spinach, celery, leek, eggplant, cauliflower, fungus, cabbage, lemon, watermelon, peach, apple, plum, etc. 2.Limit total calories and maintain appropriate weight. If the weight is less than 10% of the normal weight is the most ideal. But not that the less food you eat the better, such as energy deficiency, ketone bodies, ketones will compete with uric acid from the kidneys to eliminate, and reduce the elimination of uric acid. 3, forbid alcohol. Ethanol, can make the body lactic acid increase, affecting the elimination of uric acid; beer itself contains a lot of purine. 4, moderate protein intake. High protein diet can lead to increased endogenous purine production, adult intake of 0.8 —-1.0 g/kg body weight per day. Synthesis of purine nucleotides requires amino acids as raw materials, and high protein foods can overprovide amino acids and increase purine synthesis. Milk and eggs do not contain nucleoproteins and can be used as the main source of protein for gout patients. You can also supplement vegetable protein. 5, limit the fat diet, drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables, alkaline fruits and vegetables can increase the solubility of uric acid, to prevent the formation of urinary stones after the saturation of uric acid has some help. My friend, when you are stroking your feet at night and have a hard time sleeping, will you remember that beautiful name: purine!
