What do you know about infertility?

According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), infertility is defined as the failure to conceive after 1 year of unprotected (no contraception) sexual intercourse. Statistically, the chances of a healthy couple conceiving after 1 month of cohabitation without contraception is about 15%, 12 months of cohabitation is about 85% and 24 months is about 95%. It doesn’t necessarily mean that if you haven’t gotten pregnant in more than 1 year, you can’t get pregnant, because it’s true that some people have low fertility and it may take longer. In the past, the definition of infertility was set at 2 years without pregnancy, but now it has been changed to 1 year, the main purpose of which is to encourage couples who want to have children but fail to conceive to seek medical treatment as early as possible so as to avoid delay. Therefore, for couples who want to have children, they should not be so anxious that they come to see the doctor just after a few months of marriage; nor should they be so “calm” that they refuse to consult the doctor even though they have not been pregnant for many years.
