  Cervical cancer cervical cytology screening protocol: The New England Journal of Medicine summarized in December 2011 that the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Cancer Society, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology have literature on cervical cancer cytology screening protocols and made the following recommendations for cervical cancer screening norms: 1. cervical smear screening is recommended starting at age 21; 2. HPV screening is not necessary before age 30; 3. a combined cervical cytology and HPV screening protocol is recommended after age 30, and the interval can be every 2-3 years; 4. screening can be stopped after age 65.
