What to look for in a gynecological examination

Gynecological examination is now a routine clinical test and it is by far the most basic type of examination to check for gynecological diseases. There are many types of gynecological examinations, which are mainly used to detect lesions in the vagina, cervix, uterus and their adnexa. There are different types of gynecological examinations such as gynecological double examination, triple examination, electronic colposcopy, gynecological ultrasound, and vaginal ultrasound. Different examination methods have different periods of application. Usually the examination will be tailored to each individual’s situation. This includes past medical history, the last 3 months of menstruation, such as: cycle, period, amount of menstruation, texture, color, odor; and problems that occur during menstruation. Depending on age, genetics, medical history and lifestyle, each woman needs to be examined differently. For women who are sexually active, an annual gynecological checkup is essential. If vaginal inflammation, cervical inflammation or pelvic inflammatory disease is found, treatment must be taken in a timely manner without delay to prevent other problems. Ultrasound examinations mainly focus on uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies and fluid in the fallopian tubes, which can be directly determined. Therefore, gynecological examination is closely related to women’s body and is a necessary means to screen gynecological diseases, and annual gynecological examination becomes especially important.
