Depression may lead to psychosis. This is because depression brings about changes in the mood or state of mind of the individual, and some patients experience more pronounced cognitive behavioural changes, as well as hallucinations and delusions, and therefore psychosis. Residual symptoms can occur in cases of incomplete treatment and can be recurrent.
