Gout prevention during the holidays

Since ancient times, gout has been considered a disease of emperors, kings and noblemen. Its occurrence is related to the consumption of more delicacies and excess nutrition. As people’s living standards have improved significantly and protein-based foods have increased exponentially, the number of gout patients in various countries has increased year by year. The incidence of gout in China is rapidly increasing and is catching up with Britain and surpassing the United States. Nowadays, gout has also become a common disease in the East. Gout is a “disease of wealth”, but it does not mean that rich people must suffer from gout, because in the cause of gout, genetic defects play a very important role. The combination of genetics, which is the basis, and excess nutrition, which is the prerequisite for the disease, makes a gout attack an inevitable outcome. Although gout is closely related to heredity, some acquired factors have an important influence on the development of gout. These acquired factors include dietary habits, nutritional status, work and living conditions, hobbies, physical activity and so on.
For young and middle-aged men who are constantly entertaining with good food and wine, they should be alerted to the occurrence of gout once they have sudden onset of joint redness, swelling and pain. You should promptly go to the hospital to check the uric acid and consult a rheumatologist to avoid misdiagnosis and mistreatment.
In order to prevent and treat gout, the following points should be noted in the diet: l) Drink more water and less soup. People with high blood uric acid and gout patients should drink more plain water and less soup such as meat soup, fish soup, chicken soup and hot pot soup. 2) Eat more alkaline food and less acidic food. Gout patients themselves have purine metabolism disorder and abnormal uric acid, if they eat too much acidic food, it will aggravate the condition and is not conducive to recovery. And eating more alkaline food can help replenish potassium, sodium and chloride ions and maintain acid-base balance. 3) Eat more vegetables and less meals. Eating more vegetables is good for reducing purine intake, increasing vitamin C and increasing fiber. Eating less is good for controlling calorie intake, limiting weight, losing weight and lowering fat. Control blood pressure.
Avoid high purine foods during acute gout attack, such as: yeast, pancreas, gravy concentrate, dried meat, sardines, anchovies, animal heart, etc. You can eat grapes, oranges, hawthorn, tomatoes, apples, coffee, tea, milk, eggs, seaweed and other low purine alkaline foods. Do not drink beer. White wine and red wine should also be avoided.
The principles of treating gout are: 1) reasonable control of diet; 2) plenty of water; 3) regular life; 4) attention to rest during the acute period; 5) taking effective medication to control inflammation; 6) treatment of complications; 7) regular blood uric acid checks and health check-ups.
