What is the attention span of a person with depression?

The anterior cingulate gyrus and frontal lobes of the brain may be involved in the coordination of attentional functions, and depressed patients have decreased frontal lobe function that significantly affects attention. This may manifest clinically as difficulty concentrating, inability to sustain or fixation of attention on pathological ideas or delusions. Hammar et al. found that depressed patients performed no differently than normal in identifying simple targets, but when required to perform complex attentional searches, depressed patients had prolonged selective attentional response times compared to the normal group. When performing a numerical breadth test, patients needed to focus their attention to maintain a trace of information and sensory registration for several seconds, and there was a significant difference in test performance between moderate and severe patients, suggesting that patients with major depression have more significant attention deficits than moderate patients. How to relieve depression 1. Meet new people. Find a place where you can meet people with the same interests and hobbies as you. 2. Build friendships. Friendships develop from sharing common experiences, especially common activities and sharing pleasure. So think about what you can do with your new friend. 3. Consolidate friendships. Keep in touch. Frequent contact helps you remember what the other person cares about, so you can be a faithful listener and enthusiastic conversationalist. 4, keep the friendship in good working order. Look for ways to express your concern for the other person when he or she is in a normal or low mood. When the other person is in trouble, you should try to help. When the other person is bad-tempered or reticent, you need to be patient. 5. Seek friendship support.
